Location
Villa Glen occupies a perfect location on the sunwashed southeast shore of Big Glen Lake. Its sandy shoreline opens to three miles of open water and spectacular views of surrounding hills and the Sleeping Bear Dunes.
Villa Glen is near Burdickville, a wide spot in the road that hosted a general store and post office in the lumbering era. When you're in Burdickville, you have no idea you're anywhere except away. it's that kind of place. No street lights, no curbs, miles of silence. But the name inexplicably remains on most highway maps.
Driving Directions
From Traverse City: West on M-72 to County Road 667 (12 miles). North on
667 to Maple City (5 miles). West on County Road 616 (5 miles). At the stop
sign, with La Becasse restaurant on the left, turn left. Go a quarter of a
mile to the curve where Trattoria Funistrada is located. The Villa Glen
resort road is there on the right, just past Funistrada.
From Honor (on US 31): Turn north on Ely Road (which becomes County Road
677) and continue 15+ miles to the stop sign at the Glen Lake Narrows, at
the base of a long hill descending to the lake. Ely Road has a couple of
tricky turns, but stay on pavement and keep heading north. You'll cross
Fowler Road and M-72 (stop signs at both). At the Narrows, turn to the
extreme right and go over the top of Inspiration Point and into the flat
country on the opposite side (2.2 miles). You'll see Villa Glen on the left,
just past Bow Road.
